DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ends November 1st. Be sure to turn your clocks BACK one hour before you go to bed Saturday night, October 31st.

FALL FESTIVAL FILM NIGHT!!!
Please join us for a soup and chili potluck on Friday night, October 30, followed by a movie in the chapel. Since we will not have access to our kitchen for clean-up, please bring your favorite soup or chili in your crock pot and bring your own serving utensils.

  • If your last name begins with A-M, please also bring some crackers, bread or veggies
  • If your last name begins with N-Z, please bring a dessert to share

We will provide the paper goods, drinks, and popcorn for the movie. We will start at 5:30 p.m. with the potluck, so that we may begin the movie promptly at 7:00 p.m. Mark your calendars and plan to join us for the fun evening. Questions? Please contact Susan Davies, 294-1122, Membership Care Committee.

OUR NEXT PROJECT SHARE MEAL for the homeless will be served on Sunday, November 1st. Volunteers are needed to make cupcakes, prepare food after church, and serve at 5:00 p.m. at 1515 Yale Blvd. SE. The servers carpool from the church about 4:30 p.m. Sign-up sheets will be in the narthex on Sunday mornings if you can help in some area.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations worldwide through simple, gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. The collection deadline date for boxes is November 8th. Please be sure that your Operation Christmas Child boxes are in by that date. The boxes will be gathered from the donating areas and gotten ready for mailing the following week.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS
UMW is selling Entertainment Books after church in the narthex. Drop by and look at the 2010 book. It still costs only $35.00 and benefits our mission projects.

HONDURAS MISSION TEAM SPECIAL NOTE: If you have luggage you no longer need, please donate it to the Honduras Mission Team. We will each carry a suitcase with medical supplies, construction tools, or material for sewing.

THE WORLD THANK OFFERING is an opportunity for individuals to respond to God’s abundance and grace with spontaneous gifts of gratitude. You may bring your coins and/or currency in a zip-lock to small groups (include your name) or write a check to Christ UMW with WTO designated on the memo line. You may also place your donations in Box #8, UMW Treasurer, in the church office prior to Nov. 23rd.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS – The children’s Sunday School now has regular attendance. We have had as many as 10 children on one Sunday! The older children are learning the Old Testament lesson that when the people of Israel obeyed God, God blessed them, and when they didn’t obey God, things did not go well at all! The younger children have been learning the lessons Jesus taught such as being fishers of men, the Beatitudes, and following Jesus. Thank you to all the volunteers who will cover John and Ruth’s upcoming absences – we had more offers to help than there were open Sundays! We appreciate all the support that the CUMC family has offered as this program gets started.

MINI STUFF SALE
Due to popular demand, a Mini Stuff Sale will be held in conjunction with the
Mission Craft Show/Bake Sale on November 7. We will only be selling household items, dishes, knick-knacks, and books (NO clothes or furniture, please – we won’t have the space).. Items can be stored in the former Sunday School Room at the top of the north stairs in Fellowship Hall.

REMEMBER OUR PEOPLE IN SERVICE:  Thank you for your support for our service people. It is still an ongoing project for those serving in our military. Following is a list of their needs:
  - soap                                                   - AA batteries
  - dried fruit                                           - $1.00 bills (U.S.)
  - beef jerky                                          - homemade cookies
  - red licorice & hard candy                     (chocolate chip & others)
  - tooth brushes & tooth paste
  - razor blades / disposable shavers
  - small flavored water packets

There is no  PX. Capt. Wes Gornall and  the others with him are under fire all the time. They so greatly appreciate our thinking of them and their needs. There is a box in the narthex for any help you can supply.
