President's Message Our upcoming Los Alamos Foray is coming together quite nicely. The recent precipitation alone promises an abundance and diversity of specimens. One thing, however, prompts surprise and concern. The last count Sharon gave me had only 20 folks signed up. I'm hoping that everyone has just been too busy picking mushrooms to send in their form and check. So those of you who plan to attend but have not registered, put down this newsletter and send your Registration to Sharon. While I'm standing on the Presidential Soapbox, I'd also like to remind members of my request for volunteers to serve as officers--or at least as Nominating Committee Chair. We're quickly approaching time to select NEW officers, and without volunteers, it will be a quick and disappointing election. At present, our Treasurer and Secretary are willing to continue, but no one has offered to serve as President or Vice-President. I know that some members have already been getting out in the field to enjoy the benefits of all this rain we've been having. I plan to arrange a field trip for next Saturday (Aug 5th). Those interested should check our Website (www.mycowest.org) for details of this and other outings. I hope to see a good turnout at our upcoming meeting. Terri & I will try to keep our Alaska Mushroom program short--we'll aim for 30 minutes. I expect we'll have some interesting specimens coming in, and we can dedicate a bit of time to show and tell. David Wallis (for August'06 Mycorizon)
