Today is National Teacher Day. Please take the time to thank the teachers of your students for all they do. The school would like to take a moment to thank our teachers. Their work is important, and what they do each and every day for our children matters – to all of us. They could have chosen a career with better pay, better working conditions, and higher status, but they chose to spend their time and talents as a teacher.

May 6, 2013:

Please be advised that students are not allowed to have electronic devices at school. This violates the school policy. If a student is found to have such a device, these are the consequences:

1st offense - device is taken away for the day and must be picked up by parents
2nd offense - the device is taken away for 1 week and must be picked up by parents
3rd offense - device is taken away and student has 1 week of afterschool detention. Device must be picked up by parents
4th offense - student is suspended from school, device is taken away and must be picked up by parents.

Some of the middle school students have already received their first warning. Please do not allow your student to bring an electronic device to the school. This includes but is not limited to:

cell phones
Ipods
Ipads
Laptops
Electronic games
Electronic messaging devices

April 15, 2013:

Salam Academy has been awarded School Choice Leadership Award 2013 for participation in National School Choice Week.

April 10, 2013:

The school is selling class composite and school composite photos. If anyone is interested, they can place an order with the office. Each one is $10.

April 09, 2013:

Br. Radi as part of his coursework is doing research on ESL learners. He would like to interview parents of these students. Parents who are interested in taking part in the research project can contact Br. Radi directly or can email salamacademyptol@gmail.com.

Feb 25, 2013:

Monday Feb 25th, the 4th-8th graders will be going on a fieldtrip to Santa Fe. They will be meeting with representatives from our government and taking tours of the Round House as well as the NM History Museum. The bus will leave the school at 830 am and we need parent chaperones to join us on the trip. If you are interested, please contact the office or your student's teacher. The cost for students is $10/person. Permission slips must be turned into the teacher by Friday so we can have an accurate count for the trip.

Feb 22, 2013:

Friday Feb 22nd will be parent teacher conference day. If you have not made an appointment with your child's teachers, please do so. Teachers will meet with parents from 1 pm - 4 pm. Report cards as well as testing scores will be given out by the teachers. This is a very important time for meeting with your child's teachers to find out exactly how your child is doing.Feb 11, 2013:

The First Grade class will host a bake sale on Friday Feb 22nd immediately following school. Please support the school by purchasing lunch or goodies from the bake sale. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Ms. Suzanne.

Feb 17, 2013:

Students are still working on the annual fundraiser. All students are asked to try to raise $500 per student. This can be done through donut mart cards, door-to-door requests, etc. Please help your students reach their goal by providing opportunities for fundraising. A portion of the money raised will go to help children in Pakistan.

Feb 11, 2013:

February 20 and 22nd will be our picture days. Please allow your children to wear their best clothes on both days because we will also be taking class photos. We have already sent home the permission slips so if you did not receive yours, please contact the office. The following is the schedule by first letter of last name:
