Space Academy

This show really affected me as a kid. Hot off the heels of Star Wars and Star Trek: The Animated Series, this show felt a lot like Star Trek. The same exploratory vibe, the same sense of adventure, the same scientific focus. It felt educational, without *being* educational. In much the same way Star Trek was.

Moreover, it felt like Star Trek - spaceships, flying, exploration - all wrapped up in a neat 30-minute bow on Saturday morning. I was in heaven.

Shows like this were indispensable for our youth, and shaped me in many ways, and the people in charge of making them should be commended.

- I always felt like Space Academy was like Star Trek for kids. Then, on the Space Academy Facebook page, Amber Cruz says, "It's like Star Trek for kids ♥". Now, on the Space Academy DVD, Eric Greene says "it's like Star Trek for kids" :)
