I was in a cafe, New York fresh in my mind, and I picked up a magazine
called PAPERMAG, and in it a write-up by David Cross, extolling the
virtues -- almost in tears -- about this group, called the Trachtenburg
Family Slideshow Players. About how he saw them perform and he just was
beside himself, at the group, and about the little girl, playing drums,
expressing. He was really affected by it. It was a great write-up.
I understood his mindset, that of a consummate artist, of the desire
for a different childhood than the one he had: I understood him, and
connected with him, what he was saying, on this level. I lived his
adoration for this group, experienced it vicariously, from thousands
of miles away. And since my heart was still there, in New York.
It was as if I felt them make the cross-country journey from Seattle to NY.
And hit fame and stardom.
My love for the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players was instant.
EDIT: The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players are probably what
influenced me to make the trek to Seattle.
