Dear Relative:

 I am sending a few names and dates for some of the Dilleys of Lawrence Co., OH which I have gathered from the family bible, and from other folk of the community. I hope they will help you to climb farther up the family tree. You asked for the name of Luther Dilley's father. He was James. Luther (Luke) was born in 1819. He served about 20 months in the Union Army in 1862-3. He died 26 Mar 1871. As for Diana Dilley and Washington Tracy Dilley, I have not been able to locate any information on them. The John Dilley You inquired about was the son of James and Margaret Ellen Dilley.

 Luther Dilley had three wives. He married first Margaret Waller, dau of Coleman Green Wades and Nancy G. K. Williams. She was born in 1826 and died in 1858. Their children were:

2. Susan J. b 1846 m Hackworth; a dau Susan Harper of Kitts Hill
3. Margaret S. b 1850
4. John W. b 1851 m Lena Justice
5. James H. b 1852 m Margaret Allen. He died 1935; a dau Mary Thornton of Kitts Hill, OH survives
6. George Washington b 1855 m Julia Lacell He died 1945; three sons, Sylvester & John of Laurel Hill, Fla., and Capt. Luther Dilley of Lusby, MD

 

Luther married second Louisa, a young girl in early 1860 and they had one child. She took the child and left Ohio. No one seems to have any communication with either the child or the mother.

 Luther married third, Pernina Ellswick Hackworth in 1865. They had children:

1. Luther Clark b 8 Jun 1866 d 6 Oct 1945; m Mollie Humphrey & had three sons, George, Luther (deceased) and William E.
2. William Jefferson b 21 Jun 1868 d 3 Jan 1949; m Mary Reed, still living at age 95 years. Their children:

After Luther's death, Pernina married John Robinson 10 Oct 1872

 I, William E. Dilley, married Edith Hopkins. We have five children and 12 grandchildren. I am 70 years old.

4. Nina Mae Fugitt of Kitts Hill, OH

There was an Abner Dilley who was a cousin of Luke Dilley. He was born in 1814 & died in 1908. He married Armilda b 1816 and d 1900. Their children:
