 Family sheet on Andrew Dilley a farmer in Pocahontas Co., WV, a son of Martin Dilley and Hannah. Children:

Family record for William Hanson Dilley: William Hanson Dilley married Caroline Hulda Stalnaker 24NOV1868 at her home near Elk Water in Randolph Co. WV.

((I had the pleasure of visiting with one of the Ellis H. Dilley daughters this past evening 1/15/93. She will be 83 this coming November. She has an excellent memory about family and friends. She has been a really great help in my search. She was born in the W.H. Dilley home at Dilley’s Mill.))

 William Hanson was a member of the Methodist E. Church, YES! Class leader, YES! Farmer and miller, YES! Stock raiser, YES! Owner of 2300 acres, YES!

*Believe John was a twin. 1810 census for Martin shows two males <10. Martin and Hannah were married in Jan. 1809. Have nothing for another male born in that year or era.

**From headstone for Ann Sharp at Mt. Zion Methodist E. Church which is near the Martin/Henry Dilley homesteads. Beside headstone for Isabel Dilley.

 I have not found a connection between the two William Sharps. who married Rachel and Ann. Ann died around 1840. Don’t know what happened to her William. Have heard tales, but can't confirm, and don't want to repeat until they are.

Family of Andrew Dilley son of Martin Dilley and Hannah Moore: he married Martha Sharp dau. of William Sharp. Andrew died 12 JUN 1896 and Martha died 2 APR 1911. Only exception, I have date of death for Martha as 8 APR 1911.

  2. Ella Yeager b: unkn, d: unkn at age of 15 of diphtheria.
  3. Martin Yeager b: unkn, d: in or after 1861 of Camp Fever in Highland Co., VA during Civil War.

 

Family of Ann Dilley dau. of Martin Dilley and Hannah Moore, m: William Sharp 12 JUL 1832 in Pocahontas County, VA/WV. No known children.

 You will note I have the daughter of Andrew Dilley and Martha Sharp as Elizabeth Frances Dilley. I got this information from two of William Hanson Dilleys living grand daughters.

Descendants of Daniel Dilley and Lucinda Jane Moore, William A., Elizabeth K., & Joseph N. These were born in Pocahontas Co., WV prior to their migration supposedly to Iowa.

Descendants of William Dilley and wife #3 Anna E. Dreppard. Sarah R., John Ott, Byron D., T. Kahan., Leven., Dorinda, Blanche A., Marshall, & Stephen.

CORRECTION: John Dilley, son of Henry, m: Ellen Friel. Their Daughter "Frances" married Henry M. Poage who was killed in the Civil War. Mrs. Poage (Frances Dilley) had died some time previously. They (Frances Dilley & Henry M. Poage) were survived by one daughter Mrs. Sallie Woods Berry.

Henry Dilley apparently died in the Autumn months of 1846. The appraisments and sale of his personal property, not real estate, was held on November 6, 1846.

Margaret Sharp Dilley died 28APR1858. Stony Creek, Consumption, Age 60, Parents John and Margaret Sharp, Born Bath Co., M: Henry Dilley, Reported by Daniel Dilley. In the 1850 census she was living with Alexander Barlow, husband of Mary. She was listed as age 60.
