Martin Dilley settled in this county and cleared a very good size farm where I was raised. He was among the first settlers in this county then Bath Co. VA, now Pocahontas Co., W. VA. Martin had a brother by the name of Henry Dilley who settled on Thorny Cr. in Pocahontas Co. The place where I now reside is known as Dilley’s Mill, W. VA. Martin had a brother who lived in the state of Maryland on the Cumberland Valley, so I have been told.

Note: I made machine copies of several of these family sheets which were hand-written in good penmanship. The microfilm for these items was in black negatives and the copies were quite poor. I have transcribed the contents quite carefully except that dates were changed into the correct genealogical form. The problem of the name of Andrew’s daughter being Elizabeth or Mary Frances is not solved.
