Forinash Family Letter
November 13, 1957
Dear Cousin Ethel, (Rosencrance, See)
Our grandfather's name was Lorenza Dow Forinash. Our grandmother was
Eliza Wimer before marriage. I don't know how their children's ages
came: only know the Elihu was the oldest and mother was the youngest. I
don't know anything about Uncle Elihu's family: I know Jane was his
wife's name, but don't know who she was. The had several children --
Will, was on of his boy's name. Blanch was one of the girls. I think
she married a Starcher. Esta married A.O. Curry. She has been dead for
several years. I think there were some more of them, they live around
Pickens.
Charles married Sara Tenney. Their
children:
- Addison married Anna Lake. Lived in Buckhannon: both deceased.
- Dow married Ethel Marsh; she died; then he married Hallie Holden.
- Albert never married; was killed in first World War.
- James, or Teddy as we all called him, married Fern Casto.
- Edna married Clarence McCartney.
- Osa married Jonathan Tenney, he died then married Darius McCartney.
- Renie married Addison Cougar.
- They had some that died in infancy, but I don't know their names.
Uncle David married Alice Shahan, they
had five children.
- Eliza married Andy Pickens.
- Minnie married Bill Chipps.
- Flora married Branch McCray.
- Wirt married Ella (Black) Rowan.
- Dow died when about 2 or 3 years old.
Then Uncle David married Lilly Tenney
and had:
- Hettie married John Pickens.
- Walt married Roxie Westfall.
- Sterl married Bertha Chipps
- Addison married Hazel Pritt. (she was called Duck)
- Nadie married Bill Godfrey.
- Emery married Rada Kincaid, Penn.
- Annie married Hampton Heaton.
- Lloyd married Dorothy Galford, Shinnston.
- Novel married Della Casto, Penn.
- Mattie never married.
- They had one or two that died at birth.
Uncle James married Mary Ann
Rosencrancea. Their children:
- Florence married Charley Lowther. Their children were:
- Lena Lowther married Harley Evans.
- Lola Lowther married a Cutright
- Russell Lowther married Dora Jones
Amanda May Forinash married James
Martin Rosencrance. Their children were:

Oliver Forinash died when a young
man.
Ada Forinash married Forrest White.

Earlie married Myrtie Swecker. Their

- Bulah died very young.

Uncle George married Malinda Cool and
had six children:
- Myrtle Forinash married Howard Prince.
- Dorothy married Bill McCartney.
- Ethel married Aubrey Thompson
- Ralph never married.
- Mamie never married; died when a young woman.
- a baby died when a few days old.
- Then Uncle George married Anzina (Smith) Jordan; They had no
children.
Aunt Lizzie married Wesley Cutlip. I
think they had 2 or 3 babies but none ever lived.
Aunt Harriet married Harmon Brown.
Their children are as follows, but I don't know who they married.

Aunt Tobitha married George Powers.
Their children:
- George married Hensley Strader
- William married Alma Kembrew.
- Clyde married Dessie Knight.

- Ray married Mary Bodkin.
- Earl died when he was a small boy.
Aunt Ella married John Lake and had 9
children. Lee Norman was her second husband.
- Vint married Gertie Pickens and Victoria Kieth.
- Nim married Mintie Boggs.
- Sara married Fred Boggs.
- Richard married Dessie ?
- Renza married a Bailey.
- Annie married Addison Forinash. Lived at Buckhannon. Both deceased.
- Milinda married Russel Hickman.
- Parthena married Pearl Temple and ? Baker.
- Arthur died when a small boy.
Aunt Bell married Buzz Tenney. Their
children:
- Eva married Bill Tuning; deceased.
- Manda married ? Thompson. I think.
- Lelia married Isaac Ware.
- Hazel married Frank Smith, deceased.
Eva married Howard Smith. Their
children:
- Mae married Luther Crawford.
- Alice married Arthur Crawford. (This is person writing this
letter)
- Fray married Ersel Newcome.
Aunt Lucy died when about
3 or 4 years old.
Uncle Johnny died at
birth.
I have been a long time getting this ready but I have been sick all fall
but am getting better now. I want to go to Weston and talk to Myrtle
Butcher, mother's first cousin, and get my great grandfather's and great
grandmother's names and all of my uncles and aunts on the Forinash side
of the family and mother has a first cousin, Ord Wimer, that lives close
here I want to see him and get all I can on the Wimer side.
If there is any other information you need let me know and I will do my
best to find it.
