LDS GENEALOGY WORKSHOP HELD:

DAVID ARMSTRONG taught a class at the LDS church in Elkins on March 23, dealing with making the link to Europe. "Cast a Wide Net" was the title of the program, and Armstrong told the attendees that to make a connection to Europe one must study and follow sources other than just the ones that list the ancestor specifically. Studying the whole country of an ancestor's origin as well as newspaper accounts of his ship's landing were just some of the ideas given.

DORINDA GRUMBINE and RUBY SIMMONS and their assistants from the LDS church deserve to be commended for pulling together a fine day of classes and seminars dealing with genealogy. About 25 persons from all over the state were in attendance and many found new information and ideas about tracing their family histories. The next LDS seminar is planned in co-operation with ARFHS.

ARA INDEX IN THE WORKS:

JEAN WOMELSDUFF has prepared an excellent every name index to volumes 1 - 3 of the journals and this will be offered as a ONE TIME publication when it is ready. The finishing touches are now being put on this fine publication. Are you interested in buying a copy? If so, please write to David Armstrong at the group PO Box NOW and let us know. This publication will be ran on a Xerox machine ONCE, so if you want a copy let us know NOW so we can notify you when we are ready to go. Also, PLEASE DO NOT WRITE AND ASK FOR LISTINGS OR INFORMATION FROM THE INDEX. The secretary and editor DO NOT have rough copy, so no listings can be sent prior to publication.

FAMILY HISTORY SHARE DAY PLANNED:

The ARFHS in conjunction with the Beverly LDS Church will hold a FAMILY HISTORY SHARE DAY on August 3, 1996 from 9:00AM - 6:00PM at the Beverly Family History Center, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints on the 4 lane north of Beverly. Attendees should bring a sack lunch, and refreshments will be provided. Bring your family sheets, pedigrees, etc. to share with others. For those who wish to do research, the entire library of the ARFHS will be moved to the site, and the branch library of the church will be open with it's computer and extensive family history materials available. Out of town members will want to mark their calendars and come and be with us! For more info call Dorinda Grumbine at (304)-338-2103 or Marvin Hill at (304)-338-2646. Y'all come, y'hear?

BARBOUR COUNTY CEMETERIES VOL II PUBLISHED:

Barbour County Cemeteries Vol II is now available for purchase from ARFHS. For complete info on all of our fine publications available now. And remember, a memorial donation to a library is a fine way to remember a loved one who has passed away, so if you already have all of our publications perhaps a donation to your local library of one of them would improve the research collection in your town!
