Dear President Hill:

Geri Conrad gave me your name and address. She tells me that you are interested in our May 1998 events and that you will place notices in your newsletter.

We are very appreciative of your willingness to let your members know about our "BIG" project. The flyers and a brochure about the unique plans we have are with this letter.

Our society has embarked on two very special but difficult projects.  The first one, we plan to identify, photograph and document every gravesite in Prince William County. We expect it will take us at least five years to accomplish.  We plan to publish our findings as we go along.  We do not want to put another huge expensive book on the market.  Rather, we'll put several small inexpensive booklets that will focus on gravesites within geographical locations in the county.  Our second effort is to create a program for youth at risk, provide 'how- to' classes at various youth facilities and give each one of the young people a workbook that will be theirs.  Our hope that from this program they will learn that they do not stand alone in the world, they are a link in a long chain of people, that learning history, geography, mathematics, how to use a library, how to do research, how to put thoughts together and how to put them in writing is very personal and relevant to each one of them.

Therefore, we need funds.  This year our many functions are aimed at increasing membership and financial support for those projects.  Perhaps some of your members will be interested in our offerings and their participations will, in part, help sponsor those efforts.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Curran (Mrs.), President
