=== INTERNET MUSIC WANTLIST HELP ================ Updated 15 February 1997 === This is the HELP file for the email interface to the Internet Music Wantlists. Send all commands to wantlists@swcp.com. The subject line of your message will be ignored. You can send more than one command in a message, but each command should be on a line by itself. The commands themselves are case-insensitive, but please try to capitalize release titles properly when adding entries. If you send commands to the wantlists but never get a reply back, be sure to check the configuration of your mail software and confirm that it is putting a correct return address on your outgoing email. Note also that the output of some GET commands may be larger than your mailer can handle -- you are encouraged to retrieve files like the full CD or vinyl wantlists from the Internet Music Wantlists web page (http://www.swcp.com/lazlo/Wantlists) whenever possible. If you encounter any problems using the lists, or have questions that are not answered by the HELP and RULES files, please email lazlo@swcp.com. In the command descriptions below, items contained in <>'s are mandatory and items contained in []'s are optional. Do not include the <>'s or []'s when typing the command. HELP Get this file. RULES Get a description of the wantlist, its rules and regulations, how it can be accessed, and so forth. GET THIS FILE AND READ IT BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO SUBMIT BIDS TO THE WANTLIST. GET Returns a list of items you specify. Possible parameters include: ALL - everything in the list (may be too much for your mailer) CDS VINYL CASSETTES VIDEOS SINGLES ALBUMS - various formats MY MINE - return your bids only RECENT - return items added or touched in last seven days ARTIST=... FORMAT=... BIDDER=... - search for specific fields You can build complex commands if you like: GET RECENT FORMAT=VHS GET ARTIST=KLF BIDDER=LAZLO GET MY RECENT CD SINGLES ADD | | | <format> | <bid> [| <notes>] Add a bid to the wantlist. Please read the 'rules' file for more details about what formats and bids are acceptable and how to use the "notes" field. DELETE | <id> [| <id>] ... Deletes the specified bid(s) from the wantlist database. TOUCH | <id> [| <id>] ... Updates the specified bid(s) to prevent them from expiring. CHANGE | <id> | <artist or title or format or bid or notes>=<new value> Modify the specified fields in your bid. END Stop processing commands (useful if your mailer adds a signature). IMPORTANT NOTES: * Do not send messages with MIME content to the server -- they may not be processed properly. * The commands GET MINE, DELETE, TOUCH, and CHANGE will only work from the account from which you submitted the bids originally. ==============================================================================
