My department was originally slated to move into a new building at Sandia.
The director went through a procedure to investigate the cost and design a
nice building, only to find out that there was no money for something
interesting in a building. In the process they commissioned a model of
the building, which was delivered to our existing building inside an enormous
plexiglass case. I got the idea that they needed a "reduced funding option",
and designed and built the model you see below.
It never caught on...
