I made the transition to "serious" photography with the a Minolta XG-A handed down to me by my mother. It was in rough shape, but I cleaned up the lenses and the camera and it worked quite well. I bought the XD-11 soon after and enjoyed it for many years. Unfortunately, the shutter evetually failed and repair (I was told) was impractical so I sold it. I still have the XGA and many of the lenses, but they sit in a closet these days, unused.
