First week, Zurich, Brugg, and Villigen

I left New Mexico on September 1, 2003 and arrived in Zurich the next day.
The first weekend, I went into Zurich to buy more books to read. While there I witnessed a curious festival/rally with people dressed up in period outfits, marching and playing instruments. They rallied in a park in Zurich and people made speeches. I never did figure it out exactly.

Marchers filing up a narrow walkway into the park.

From another direction come childred playing cowbells.

Incongruity.

I met a Korean scientist at the lab earlier in the week and we were both going to Zurich at the same time, so we spent some time walking around the city together.

On may back, I stopped in Brugg and there was a street festival going on. I happened upon a curious "contest". A young girl was stacking herself up on milkcrates, she got way, way up there before the tower became too unstable and fell over.

Like "George Washington Slept Here", Route 66 seems to have circled the globe... This is on a barn in Villigen.
