Route will follow the river trail to Rio Bravo and south on Isleta, rest stop at Malpais Chevron station and then over to Coors. Continue south to Los Lunas rest stop and on to Belen. Lunch will be catered in Belen. Cue sheets provided. We arrive back in downtown Albuquerque by train at 2:45 pm. From there we ride our bikes 2 miles back to the start. Fast 50 with Mesa del Sol
To spice up the classic Fast Fifty, I’ve added an optional Mesa del Sol loop. Go north on the Diversion Channel, west on Paseo del Norte bike path, south on River Trail to Tingley Beach for bathroom stop. Continue south to Rio Bravo, head east on the bike path toward I-25. Classic ride remains on the bike path (the Chris Chavez loop). For the Mesa del Sol extension, exit the bike path and head east on Rio Bravo, crossing under I-25. Turn right on University; go to Journal Pavilion at top of hill. Rest and regroup. Continue south on University, right on Bobby Foster, go under I-25 to Broadway. Rt. on Broadway, first left on Murray. Rejoin bike path going south. Food stop at Rolling in Dough. Optional shortcut to UNM via Mountain/Edith/Odelia. |

Loop #2: 30 miles, Northeast Loop CW; Alameda to 4th, North on 4th , then right on Roy/Tramway, Climb Tramway, South on Tramway, West on Comanche, North on the North Diversion Channel Trail , West on Paseo del Norte Path, Finally North on the Bosque Trail, to the start point. one regroup & restroom point. El Tour de Rio Rancho Slug Ride
2nd Annual El Tour de Rio Rancho Slug Ride. Great ride for slower riders to socialize or for those getting back into shape. Faster riders will be on their own. Ride will go through Rio Rancho and return through Corrales. See where the "City of Vision" plans many of it's new developments such as the new City Center and future campuses for UNM and CNM. 2009 Winter Solstice Ride
Ride the North Diversion Channel and end going Renaissance Blvd to Mission Ave. Continue on Mission to Edith. The entrance to the Vineyard 55+ Community is 200 yards north. Meet in the park left of the entrance for telescope viewing. Return in same manner. We plan to have telescopes set up in the park at the Vineyard. Hope to view the sun with a solar filter looking for sun spots which seem to becoming active again, the moon, which will be in transit around noon and, perhaps, Venus if we set up a scope early morning and then let it track. |

Christmas Eve Luminaria Tour
This is a leisurely ride to enjoy the Christmas Eve luminaria and Christmas decoration displays on a bike in the Country Club and Old Town areas. From the start, we head west on Mountain Road to the Paseo del Bosque Trail. Heading south, we get off the trail at Kit Carson Park and tour the Country Club area. Crossing Central and Lomas on 14th Street, we continue our tour around the Old Town area, finishing up with a ride around Old Town Plaza and a stop at Rolling in Dough Café for something hot to eat and drink. Bike lights (front and rear) are required. Bring your Christmas spirit; prizes for the best costume and bike decorations. |
