How Your $5 Range Fee Is Used. Saturday, 1/17/2009 we collected $125. Cpl. Clapes rolls about half that money over to buy the targets for next year from Ron PetersonÕs Gun Shop in Albuquerque. Each silhouette costs $1. The pistol targets come in a pack at $5. Brass labels and engraving for the trophies is covered too, so $45 went to that for the upcoming award ceremony. He also previously bought a staple gun and gets a box of staples each year from Ace Hardware. Other equipment is a 5-pound hammer and Sharpie pens for score marking. So the fee money gets used up pretty fast. Additional donations are appreciated for making and repairing target frames and backings, buying coffee, driving to and from Albuquerque for the targets, etc.

o March 14-15, Sat - Sun: Annual Reenactment at Picacho Pass State Park in Arizona. Due to budget shortfall -- the event is cancelled at Picacho Pass State Park for this year; but the event will, instead, occur at Pioneer Living History Museum north of Phoenix, just off I-17.
CS commander is Bob Smith. US commander is Andrew Garcia.

o May 2-3, Sat-Sun: Annual Golondrinas Museum Reenactment at La Cienega, NM. This event, co-sponsored by the NM Civil War Commemorative Congress (NMCWCC) & the Golondrinas Museum, commemorates the 147th anniversary of the Battles of Apache Canyon & Glorieta that occurred March 26 & 28, 1862, respectively.
Event coordinator is Madeleine Quillen.

o Jun 12-14, Fri-Sun: Dedication of the Battle of Glorieta Interpretive Trail at the Pecos National Historical Park. The Pecos National Historical Park (PNHP) will dedicate the Battle of Glorieta Interpretive Trail during June 12-14. For reenactors and reenacting groups this is to be a "by invitation only" event. The 4th Texas Vols are invited; this is DEFINITELY an Army of NM impression event. This means period-correct federal and/or civilian clothing is to be worn.
Lorenzo Vigil is the PNHP event coordinator.

o Jun 27-28, Sat-Sun: Fourth Annual Mace's Hole Event. The annual Battle of Mace's Hole is scheduled for June 27-28, 2009 at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. This year's event promises to be the best yet. Since we are always short on Confederate infantry, if you are able (or willing) to galvanize, please do so. Battles will include fights across the bridge and in the old west town.Saturday evening, and 6pm will be supper for all reenactors and families. Anyone else wanting to have supper will be charged $5.00 and must bring their own eating tools. More information will be available soon.

update1 o Aug 7-9, Fri-Sun: Fort Stanton, NM Living History Event. This event will be the largest ever for Fort Stanton, and will be combined with Old Lincoln Days.
Mike Bilbo provides the following info:
1.There will be mileage reimbursement to drivers at 20 cents per mile
round trip. The funding for this is not extensive so the planners are asking units to consider carpooling.
2.Units will be camped in a location closer to the parade ground but not on it as I had hoped. The new location will get more visitors into our camps than previous.
3.Military Ball -- first that we know of since 1896 -- will be 7:00-10:00 PM on Saturday and will be on the grassy parade ground if the weather is good. If it is rainy, we will be in a building -- probably the cafeteria.
4.Candle Light/Lantern Light Tour will be on Friday at 8:30-10:00 PM. Will utilize the reenactors who have arrived on Friday.
