Hello

Welcome to my home on the web! Use it as a jump off point to learn more about me, look at some of my work, and see what shared interests we may have.
Use the menu on the left to navigate to the main areas of this site, or the icons to reach other places where I maintain a web presence.
What's New?
September 14, 2019?
For almost fifteen years, my personal home page looked like the picture below. The snow covered trees and hills were meant to represent Edgewood, New Mexico, where I used to live.
I had plans to update it, but never found time for that. The last decade and a half have been busy! I'm still busy, but it is time to create a new site and you are looking at it.
HTML and especially CSS have evolved quite a bit since the last time I wrote web pages. I found the w3schools tutorials very helpful. I use vi (vim, really), the gimp, and other open source tools for the graphic design part.
All pictures and backgrounds, unless otherwise stated, are my own.
Social Media
The navigation bar on the left takes you to the main categories of this site. The icon bar below it takes you to other sites where I have content. When I first created my Facebook and Linked In accounts, I thought I would keep them separate and use one for friends and family, and the other for professional connections. Over the years, several people have connected with me on both sites.
Linked In
I try to connect only with people whom I have met, possibly online, and know a little bit. My hope is that I would recognize these people in person and vice versa. My goal is not to reach 500+ status.
That original goal is harder to maintain. There are more then 350 connections now and some of them are recruiters and other people I have never met personally. With almost all of them I had at least a few electronic interactions, but there are some whose invite request I just accepted for one reason or another.
I never liked it, but it is a good way to see what other people are up to. I have a dozen Facebook friends and am seldom there. Usually only when a family member has posted new pictures and Facebook sends me an email to come look.
Blog Spot
When I went to Ireland, I started a blog to keep people posted about what was happening and how my adventure progressed. Since I have come back to the States, there have been fewer posts, but I do try to write when something interesting is happening, have new photos, and time to write.
Flickr
Currently I use Flickr to post my photos. I really liked Picasa, but I really don't like Google Photos which replaced it. I still have some pictures there, but anything new will go on Flickr.
I prefer my DSLR to take pictures over my phone's camera and Instagram makes it almost impossible to post from a web browser on my computer. It's fun to share pictures on Instagram, but it is a bit of a hassle.
