Street Drugs Definition: Street drugs are drugs that are sold illegally without permits and without professional packaging or preprinted instructions. Street drugs are usually made in homemade labs with home made ingredients and with no guarantee of actual ingredients or dosages. In studies, it has been found that more than 50% of the time, the substance sold on the street was told by the customer to be a different substance. Common false advertising revolves around the substitute of methamphetamine for cocaine, of PCP for mescaline and LSD, and fentanyl for heroine. There are others. The dosages are non standard and thus more pure street drugs often result in death to the first few customers, until the word gets out on how to dose the substance. Some of the drugs are handled by many people and cut with many different substances. It has often been wondered by health care professionals if some of the diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis, and many of the other disease being passed amoung IV drug users is getting into the actual substances that are being sold. There is lots of money involved with the illegal drug trade and it is best to stay away because of the greed and the unknown substances that may be in the products. Heroine addicts commonly have $2000.00 to $4000.00 per week habits. Though the actual cost of manufacturing heroine is only around $0.10 per dose, the mark up is so high, that people willing to take the risk and get involved with the illegal activity are also willing to take the risk of protecting their business by violent force. The best advice is to stay away from illegal drugs.
