NSAIDs: Non Steroidal Anti Inflamatory Drugs NSAIDs are drugs such as aspirin, motrin, naprosyn, clinoril, feldene, advil, tanderil, tolectin, indocin, and a few more. They are used for inflammatory type pain and are very effective for that purpose. For arthritis sufferers it is a God send. However, NSAIDs can cause gastritis (stomach pain) and even stomach ulcers. Therefore it is essential to take NSAIDs with a full meal. It is also essential that if one's stomach is painful to stop taking the NSAIDs and be evaluated by a physician. Though it is not recommended to take NSAIDs with a history of stomach ulcers or gastritis, the situation may leave no other alternative for pain control. Thus, there is the H2 blockers and Cytotec that can be taken along with the NSAIDs to greatly decrease to incidence of the serious stomach side effects.
