Nausea and Vomiting Definition: Nausea is when someone's stomach has the feeling like they will soon vomit. Vomiting is when the contents of one's stomach is ejected up the esophagus and out the mouth. Therapy: When someone is nauseated it is important to not drink or eat until the feeling of nausea goes away, this usually takes around 4 hours. When someone is vomiting it is usually important to wait around 4 hours before trying to drink or eat. There are some antiemetic medicines that are over the counter. Over the counter antihistamines have some antiemetic properties. Some prescription medicines for nausea and vomiting are tigan, phenergan, compazine, and others. IF PROBLEMS: Problems with vomiting are dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. If dizzyness and weakness do not improve in 12 hours, one should consider being evaluated by their physician.
