A number of years ago I had an opportunity to "contend" with a co-worker named Larry regarding Jehovah's Witness doctrine, especially the Trinity and the Deity of Christ. Larry was well trained, eloquent and ingenious in his arguments, and it was all I could do to hang on while I dug into the Scriptures in the face of his assalts on the orthodox Christian position. It was a baptism by fire, but in the end I came out with a much deeper appreciation of how solid in the Word our basic dogmas are.
Eventually I set my notes aside but I maintained my habit of noting each new Scripture I encountered that dealt with the Trinity. Several years later I learned that my cousin Brian had been converted to the Jehovah's Witnesses.
