The New 1996 Duncan Super Yo-Yo
Here it is ... And here are the facts as I know
them. The new Super is a three piece wooden
model made for Duncan by Brad Countryman,
owner of What's Next/BC Yo-Yos, and former
owner of Hummingird.
A lot of effort was taken
to make the yo-yo as close as possible to the
old Supers, but not identical to them. In shape
and size, they are very close to the old ones.
The three piece construction makes them much
more playable, because the inside of the yo-yo
halves are finished and painted, as opposed to
the rough cut wood of the old one piece Supers.
The logo is an impressed gold foil. It is different than the logos on the old models, and this was done on purpose. The small trademark sign, "r", was moved from below the dash in "Yo-Yo", and placed just to the right of the name "Duncan". In the 50's, the old Duncan company owned the trademark to the word "Yo-Yo", but now Flambeau does not ... It's a generic term now.
They come in five color combinations and the colors are striking, especially with the contrasting stripes and gorgeous gold foil logo. The colors are : Red with a Black Stripe, Green with a White Stripe, Blue with a White Stripe, Yellow with a Silver Stripe, and Black with a Silver Stripe. All of them are almost too pretty to play with !!!
I just received my first shipment today, September 20, 1996. Duncan was almost a month behind schedule on the shipping, but they were definitely worth the wait. Not only are they beautiful, but they play wonderfully too !!! My favorite is the Red Super with the Black Stripe and perfect gold foil logo. It's gorgeous !!!
