First,
have a look at how it works
What you need: 1 manila folder, masking tape, ruler, square, knife or scissors |
All pieces are 6.5" tall. Since the width of the cloth is 7.5", this
leaves 1/2" of the cloth hanging out on either side.
The widths are as indicated
in red. These are not very critical. Just make sure all angles are
square.
dxf cutfile if you want to cut the pattern on a laser cutter. Tight fit: 1/8" margins. |
First the base. Tape one of the 3/4" strips on one of the pieces, in this case 'base 2' Check for square. |
Tape the other piece in place. This last joint is the one you take loose when splitting the jig to remove the folded and sewed cloth. |
Flip the base over, and tape the other 3/4" piece in place, near the center of the RH base piece (base 2). Check for square |
Pre-fold the template, also fold over the 1/4" seam
The template is page2 in this pdf |
Seam down, slide the template against the edge, and hold it in place with a bit of tape. |
Tuck piece #1 into the fold, aligning the top and bottom edges, and tape the right-hand edge down onto the base. |
Tuck piece #2 in from the left and tape it down |
#3 is tucked in from the right, and #4 from the left |
Unfold everything, ready for use. |
Here is how to use it |
