The neighborhood proposes a multi-use design for city-owned property at
Cerillos Road and Don Diego Avenue (15,000 sq. ft.). The name "Entrada"
is appropriate because the location serves as both an entry from the north
to the neigborhood and a southwest entrance to the downtown area. The
proposed "pocket" park aims to help promote and preserve the residential
character and pedestrian-friendly streets.. Implementation is intended to
be a city-community partnership.
Significant Design Elements:
Three circular sculpture sites featuring the work of a succession
of local artists.
A custom designed, "pull-out" bus stop.
Blocking off the remnant of old Don Diego to create several parking
spaces.
A sign identifying the entry to the neighborhood.
Winding, lit paths of attractive and practical materials and rock
work.
Native, drought-tolerant shade trees and shrubs.
