Entrada Park
the case for the extra 900 square feet
Currently, the width of Don Diego going North towards Cerillos increases
from one lane to three in the last 150' before the stoplight.
The Entrada Park design favored by the neighborhood
absorbs the Easternmost of the three lanes into the park, leaving the
left-turn lane and one straight/right-turn lane.
The arguments for and against are summarized below:
For:
|
- This is a small park. An extra 900 square feet would have
a big positive impact.
- Making the Don Diego entrance 1+2 lanes wide makes the
pedestrian crossing 25% shorter.
- All of Don Diego is one lane per direction, and Guadelupe turns
back into one lane going North
only one block further North of the intersection.
- One left-turn lane plus one straight/right-turn lane is
sufficient to handle the Northbound traffic on Don Diego.
- The extra road width - if needed - is needed on the block of
Guadelupe between Cerillos and Paseo, not South of Cerillos on
Don Diego.

Against:
|
- It costs more. Extra cost is for removal of 900 square feet of
asphalt, plus the price of 80' of new curb.
