The daffodils that were donated and planted by Whole Foods are in full bloom. Looks
like there are tulips that are not far behind. Gorgeous!
Saturday, 16 April 2005. Two large trees got planted. These came from
Donn Carpenter at Santa Fe Tree Farm. One is a Chinquapin oak (near the
lowest spot on the site) and the other is a [burr oak or arizona cypress?]
We also finished up the rockwork on the dry streambed that runs from the southern tip
of the park along the eastern boundary, and placed large rocks around the downhill side of the
Chinquapin oak.

Saturday, 23 April 2005: Earth Day. We had a crew from the EARS (environmental
and animal rights society) program at Santa Fe High. We
put in shrubs and perennials on the North and East of the park. More rockwork got done.
Saturday, 7 May 2005. Another volunteer crew, plus a pair of strong helpers.
We battled the weeds to the tune of 10 garbage bags full, and we got a lot of rockwork done - the dry creekbed
along the southwest side.
Saturday, 14 May 2005. More rockwork - Lorenzo from last week showed up from last week. We finished
the dry beds all the way down to where they join up, and 6' beyond. Heath did the river stones
along Cerrillos, where the grade is steep. Saskia, Laura and Anna did the wood chip mulch and the
pecan shells, and a ton of weeding.
All the big rocks got used up, and we'll ask for another truckload this week.
Saturday, 21 May 2005. We'll do the same thing again - in fact, we probably will keep on going
till the whole thing is done, every Saturday 9-noon. Hopefully not so much weeding, and a
little more shaping around the mound, and more rockwork, also in places where we have spotted
excessive runoff and erosion. Also maybe mulch on top of the finished sections to
keep the weeds down.
Saturday, 27 May 2005. Memorial weekend, and SF High graduation weekend - we'll skip this one.
