Windows ~1977-1984
The first 6 were made while I was enrolled in the courses of the MFA in stained glass program under Paul Dufour, at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. After I got my PhD (in physics), life intervened.
This is my first window. The aim here was to learn the techniques of glass cutting, soldering and caulking. So we were limited to 12x12", straight lines only, made with 1/4" came, and glass from the scraps barrel.
The second window called for curved lines, and use of different widths of came, 12x12". I submitted this design (in watercolor). Prof. Dufour liked it, but since it was too intricate to do in 12x12", I got permission to make it 14x14".
The assignment here was to come up with a design based on Fibonacci numbers (1,1,2,3,5,8 etc.). This number series has a connection to the Golden Ratio. Because of the mathematical nature, I decided to choose primary colors. In the design many rectangles with ratios 2:3, 3:5, 5:8 and so on can be found. Also the ratios of the areas of blue, red and yellow glass are 8:5:3. This one has a title: at the time, Schiphol airport wanted to build a (controversial) 5th runway, and the design reminded me of an airport runway map. So this one is called 'Schiphol's 5th runway'.

32x15"

This mostly monochrome window shows some of prof. Paul Dufour's philosophy of glass design: the use of the lead as a primary design element, and the use of lead came in a non-structural way.

Over the years this window has suffered some mishaps.

'Choose a philosopher, and base a design on his/her work'. This one has a title: 'and Man Created the Universe'. (after Descartes).

24x33"

I made one 3D object, titled 'Crystal-Liquid Duality'. The broken long-stemmed shotglass is spilling liquid. However, the glass looks smooth and soft, and the spilled liquid in contrast has sharp angles and facets, evoking crystals.

'Seven years of bad luck'. This is a mirror. I had found a mirror by the trash which had shattered in an interesting way - there were some big pieces and this fan of narrow slivers. I used non-translucent glass to complete the design. Because of the extreme narrowness of the slivers, this was done in copper foil.

53x18"

(apologies for the bad image quality). I made this window for a wedding present. The red glass is from a sheet that had fallen in my studio and had shattered in a way similar to the mirror above.

~14x20"

This is a small window, mostly clear glass. I made two of these for presents.

~8x30"

Another mirror. It has pieces of textured glass on top of matching pieces of mirror.
