Alta Vista runs from St.Francis on the left (West)
to Galisteo on the right. The Eastern section is all residential,
while on the Western section there are no residences, and all
facilities have their own off-street parking.
For now, we will concern ourselves only with the Western half,
from St.Francis to Luisa Street.
A typical cross section was taken at the red line

The horizontal dimensions are to scale, vertical is exaggerated.
The curb-to-curb distance is 42.8', plenty of asphalt to play with.
There are occasional bulbouts, which protrude 8.7' from the curb.
One is shown on the right side.
There was no parking on either side.

First we remove all the silly bulbouts. Then, starting on the center
line and going both ways, we have 11' car lanes, then a 4' island
with bushes and weeds, then a 6' bike path (on the already existing
asphalt). The curb and sidewalks are left as is.

Below is a sketch of a section of the trajectory. There
are openings in the islands on both sides when there is an entry.
The bike path asphalt is colored green.

This is not a very expensive modification, since all the necessary
asphalt,
as well as the sidewalks and curbs are already there.
