McDonald's relocation

In February 2006 the owner of the McDonalds on Cerrillos (the one next to Whole Foods) signaled his intention to move to the location where the (now closed) brazilian restaurant was. The lot extends fron St.Francis to Early Street, and on Early there is an old quonset hut where a dance studio has been operating for more than 2 decades.

The dance studio is unhappy since they have to find another location to continue operations, and the residents in the neighborhood east of there are worried about the possibility that the new Mc franchise may open a back entrance to the property, in addition to the access from St.Francis, which would possibly dump a lot of traffic onto Early St. and Calle Grillo.

The calendar of events:
- March 14th, 6pm: CANCELLED: BCDDRC meeting on , at Genoveva Chavez Community Center
- Wed, Mar 22nd at 5:30pm,, at the Whole Foods community room. This will be a meeting with the Neighborhood, much like an ENN meeting (Early Neighborhood Notification). (see the letter from the McDonald's representative)
  The March 22 meeting was attended by about 30 people. At this meeting, McDonald's representative agreed not to have car access to/from Early street. See this article in the New Mexican.
- April 13 2006: The plan comes before the Business Capital District Design Review Committee.
