He bought 114 acres of land on Middle Mountain in 1792, 270 acres on Slate
Creek from James Wamsley in 1795, 15 acres from Samuel Currence in 1812 and 100
acres from Robert Hewell on Springston's Run in 1824. He deeded 100 acres to
Jacob, Jr. on Springston's Run in 1830. He built a home on Springston's Run
and the first water mill in Randolph Co. His will was signed 7 Sep 1831 and
probated in Jun 1832, executor Jacob Slagle and witnesses John Wood and Thomas
Carter, Jr. His will names 9 children.
[891] Jacob, Sr. was the second son of John Jaccob, Jr.

The Slagle Methodist Church, now the Israel Methodist Church, about a mile
north of Kerens was named for the Slagles. Jacob lived near the church about 2
miles up from Kerens on Leading Creek.
