Overview map

(scale 0.25, relative coordinates -xx -xx)

This map shows the relation of Camino de los Marquez to the surrounding neighborhood. The design issues are challenging because Marquez must serve the needs of large and small commercial buildings (areas 1,2,and 3), homes (area 4), and aparments/condominums (area 5). As a result, the traffic calming proposals includes an interactive set of strategies as described on a previous slide.

Here are some guides to understand the sequence of slides:

North is always at the top of the slide
Names such as Osco or Pete's Pets refer to commercial entities to be found on the slide map.
The slides progress from West to East along Marquez. The "West Entry" includes the wedge shaped traffic island.
Slide six defines the only full intersection in tge project. Marquez is bisected at this point by Don Diego Street which runs north and south and carries two-way traffic. The intersection is controlled by 4 Stop signs.
Marquez terminates in the East at a 'T' insection formed as Marquez meets Galisteo Street. Galisteo is a one-way street, carrying traffic north into the Plaza District.
A bicycle path is part of the design plan and is incorporated in the treatments for Marquez's south curbing.
On the maps (provided by the city) red lines indicate currently recognized parking, and blue is a dirt road.
