This slide illustrates a major south curb entry to the shopping center.
It is now a 60' wide asphalt 'no person's land' for unguided vehicle
entry, parking, and pedestrian traffic. A free standing structure at
the east side of the entry houses a small business ( Pete's Pets).
Space along the north side of this building, along Marquez, is home for
several dumpsters.
Proposal:
The proposal here is to narrow the shopping center entry to c. 22'
by extending and 'wrapping' curbing on both side of the entry.
The space created would be filled with plantings, screen existing
parking slots, and provide sidewalks along the west edge of Pete's Pets.
A fenced-in area holds 2 dumpsters. The bike path follows the south side
of the street along the whole section, and there is a marked pedestrian
crossing, indicated with the thin lines.
Diagonal parking along the south continues up to the shopping center entry.
To the right of the entrance, parallel parking is allowed on the north
side, but not on the south side. This effectively moves the street down
again.
