This is a different way to rework the intesection. As on the previous page,
North is down (I made this drawing for an earlier proposal). The difference
is that there are traffic islands. Advantages are that the pedestrians
have two very short crossings to reach the other side of the street. Also,
the area in the center of the intersection is larger, allowing easier turns
for large vehicles, if this is necessary.
As in the previous layout, the pavement is raised, and changes color and/or
texture. There are plant boxes with plantings low enough so that children
crossing are not obscured.
