Samuel is buried in the Woodlawn cemetery next to Sarah Marshall Phares.. He
was a Colonel in the Ohio stae militia. He moved by covered wagon to Illinois
in 1847 and settled on a farm near Waynesville, in Dewitt Co and in 1850 they
moved to Clinton, IL. During the Civil War he was in the 68th Illinois
Volunteers Company C. He was also a school teacher and veterinay surgeon.
