Procedure and timetable:
July 2001: Meet with Carrie, and define the project area. Because of possible side effects, the project area includes Don Diego (from the southern tip of the (future) Entrada Park to the intersection with Camino de los Marquez, inclusive), plus Don Cubero Avenue.
January 2002: first public meeting on the project, formation of the local committee
June 19 2002: 4th(?) meeting. At this meeting, a plan was finalized. See this page for a description of the 2002 plan.
2003: Things are put on hold because some councillors don't like the Traffic Calming program in general, and in particular don't like measures on Don Diego, a 'collector street', which is a different category from 'residential'.
A citizens' committee is appointed to evaluate the TC entire program. They meet throughout the year, hold public hearings, and work with Staff to come up with a set of recommedations, mostly clarifications and minor corrections to the existing rules. These are adopted by council and become part of the TC program.
Of the program changes that affect this project, here are the most important ones:
Also, work at this location needs to be integrated with TC measures in front of a new development that will (alas) occupy the open space on Camino de los Marquez across from Don Cubero. See this drawing from 1997.
Early 2005: final meetings are held, one on January 20 and one on February 17. At this last meeting the final discussions were held and a plan was chosen. Here is the chosen plan. Note the differences with the 2002 plan.
May 2005: Ballots go out.
