[136] Amos Garfield "Garf" was 10 years old when his mother died. During the
winter of 1900 he stayed with his Uncle William and Aunt Berry. Uncle
William at that time live on John's creek. For many years he worked for
the Post Office in Charleston, WV. He was elected to the House of
Legislature where he served one tern. After his retirement, he and
Nellie moved to a country home near Milton, WV. Garf served as treasurer
for the First Methodist Church for 33 years 1917 - 1950.
