A Prayer Plume
by Della Comer MacGillivray

prayer plume 11k jpeg

Great Spirit! So good and true
A winged prayer is made to you

Blest stick with bird feathers share
beauty painted in colors rare

Cord of cotton twines round a magic dart
tying prayer-plume wishes from the heart

Great Spirit! Where a feathered stick
the Indians plant,
will you a part of heaven
there forever grant

Note:
A tribute to those Indians with their beautiful symbol telling the bird flight of prayer.
"Pahos" is the Hopi name for their prayer feathers.
